N.H. Green Yards Program

Working with motor vehicle recyclers to improve environmental practices at their salvage yards!

New Hampshire Green Yards

Dismantling motor vehicles for parts and scrap has gone a long way toward conserving natural resources and reducing the burden on our landfills. In fact, motor vehicles are the #1 recycled consumer product in this country.

However, some methods used to dismantle and store junk motor vehicles and used parts can contaminate our air, water, and soils. The N.H. Green Yards Program is here to help prevent contamination. The program provides information and training to New Hampshire's motor vehicle recyclers, shows them environmentally friendly ways to recycle motor vehicles and teaches them how to comply with environmental regulations.

In September of 2007, the New Hampshire Pollution Prevention Program was awarded the MVP2 Award for the Green Yards Program. This award recognizes the work implemented by motor vehicle salvage yards to create a greener business.
