The Fuel Oil Discharge Cleanup Fund for
On-Premise-Use Heating Oil Users
WHAT IS THE FUND?
- A fund established under RSA 146-E to assist owners of on-premise-use
heating oil storage facilities, who incur costs for clean up when a release of
fuel occurs.
WHAT DOES THE FUND COVER?
The fund covers the costs of on-site and off-site clean up of fuel oil
discharges incurred after October 1, 1992, subject to statutory limitations
and the availability of funding.
HOW DO YOU MAKE APPLICATION FOR REIMBURSEMENT FROM THE FUND?
Application for reimbursement is made by filing a request with the
Department of Environmental Services on forms supplied by the department.

WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS?
On-premise-use heating oil storage facilities installed after August 28,
1993 must comply with the provisions of the National Fire Protection
Association standard NFPA 31 and all applicable local codes or ordinances.
On-premise-use heating oil storage facilities must be equipped with a vent
alarm system.
Prior approval by the Department of Environmental Services is required
before any clean up work may take place.
