DES Issues Temporary Permit for PSNH Merrimack Station
Flue Gas Desulphurization System
Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services has issued the final Temporary Permit for the installation and operation of a wet, limestone-based flue gas desulphurization system (FGD system) at Public Service of New Hampshire (PSNH), Merrimack Station located in Bow. PSNH requested the Temporary Permit to install the FGD system to control mercury emissions at the Merrimack Station in compliance with state law. The FGD system will also provide a co-benefit by removing sulfur dioxide emissions. This Temporary Permit also contains applicable monitoring, performance testing, recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
