Violators Fined $18,500 for Wetland and Comprehensive Shoreland Protection Act Violations
Concord, NH - The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services announced today the imposition of an $18,500 administrative fine against Richard and Colleen Lefebvre of Tewksbury, MA for violations of the state’s Wetland regulations and the Comprehensive Shoreland Protection Act on Palazzi Pond (also known as Bog Pond) in Springfield, NH.
Mr. and Mrs. Lefebvre, owners of property located at 118 Shore Road in Springfield, NH, were fined for dredging and filling jurisdictional wetlands in several areas without a permit, installing a culvert in a jurisdictional intermittent stream without a permit, failing to properly install and maintain erosion control measures, failing to maintain the woodland buffer on Palazzi Pond, and for failing to comply with Administrative Order No. 08-013 WD.
DES imposed an administrative fine, after hearing, as follows: The amount of $9,250 was immediately assessed and is due and payable by March 29, 2010. The remainder of the fine, $9,250, was suspended contingent on the Lefebvres’ compliance with the requirements of the AO and the terms of the Decision.
