Public Information Meeting
DES Hosts Public Information Meeting on Amending the Leachate Management Requirements; Research, Development and Demonstration Permits
Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services will hold a public information meeting regarding amendments to the Leachate Management Requirements; Research, Development and Demonstration (RD&D) Permits (Chapter Env-Sw 806.05) of the Solid Waste Rules. The existing rule requires leachate to be managed by collecting and removing it from the landfill liner and requires the landfill’s operating plan to include a leachate management plan. The proposed amendments establish the procedures and criteria for obtaining approval of an innovative alternative leachate management method. Any alternative method that meets the specified criteria would be implemented under a RD&D permit that would be issued for a three-year term, subject to being renewed for a total period of no more than 12 years.
This meeting will provide an opportunity for interested parties to read and comment on the Leachate Management Requirements rules and proposed amendments.
