DES Presents H.P. Hood, LLC with SHARP Award
The Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) Award presented for outstanding safety and health programs
Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services today presented H.P. Hood in Concord with a Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) Award. The award is presented for implementing exceptional workplace safety and health programs and maintaining low employee injury and illness rates. H.P. Hood is one of only five companies that currently hold this distinction in New Hampshire.
The SHARP is a program of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) that exempts employers with outstanding programs and low injury/illness rates from random compliance inspections. New Hampshire businesses can become eligible for the SHARP award by requesting an assessment of their safety and health program and undergoing a workplace inspection conducted by the Occupational Safety and Health Consultation Service of the Planning, Prevention and Assistance Unit at DES.
Several H.P. Hood facilities have received SHARP recognition, including Portland, Maine and Barre, Vermont.Employers wishing to learn more about this service, or the SHARP award, should call 271-8590 or visit www.des.nh.gov and search the A to Z list for Occupational Safety and Health.
