Public Hearing Notice
Nomination of the Undesignated Portions of the Lamprey River, the North, Little, Pawtuckaway, North Branch and Piscassic Rivers into the New Hampshire Rivers Management and Protection Program
Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (DES) will hold a public hearing in Epping, NH on Tuesday, August 31 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to accept public comments on the nomination of the undesignated portions of the Lamprey River, the North, Little, Pawtuckaway, North Branch and Piscassic Rivers into the New Hampshire Rivers Management and Protection Program. The Lamprey River Nominating Committee submitted a nomination application to DES on June 1, 2010. The application is available for review on the DES Rivers Management and Protection Program website located at: http://des.nh.gov/organization/divisions/water/wmb/rivers/nominations.htm.
The DES Rivers Coordinator has determined the application meets state requirements, making the river eligible for consideration during the next legislative session into the Rivers Management and Protection Program. Following the public hearing, the DES Rivers Coordinator and the Rivers Management Advisory Committee will make their respective recommendations to the DES Commissioner by October. The DES Commissioner will review the nomination and must make a determination whether to forward the nomination to the General Court for legislative approval by November.

Note: The hearing will remain in session until all attendees have been given an opportunity to comment on the nomination. If necessary, an additional hearing will be scheduled to allow all those who wish to speak an opportunity to do so.
