DES and NH Automobile Dealers Association Sign Partnership Agreement
Agreement signed as part of DES Partners Program
Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services and NH Automobile Dealers Association today signed a partnership agreement to recognize their common goals of enhancing environmental regulatory awareness in the motor vehicle industry and improving environmental protection.
This partnership agreement is the 16th to be signed as part of the DES Partners Program initiated with a wide range of organizations across New Hampshire. “Our Partners Program strengthens the informal partnerships DES currently has by bringing greater recognition and structure to these relationships and enabling us to better align our joint efforts in support of the Department’s goals and the goals of our partner organizations,” stated DES Commissioner Tom Burack.
In the Agreement, DES and NHADA agree to work together on outreach and education, sustainability, the Granite State Clean Cities Coalition and Rule/Policy changes. The specific areas of cooperation are detailed in a work plan covering the period from October 2010 to October 2012.
"NHADA is proud to partner with the DES. Environmental sustainability and compliance education of the automotive industry has been a long time goal of this association. The Association and several of our members have won national awards for their environmental programs such as air pollution prevention from body shops and dealerships reducing their energy usage. We and our members look forward to making great progress with the DES in the future," noted Peter McNamara, President of NHADA.
DES initiated the DES Partners Program to advance the agency’s mission of sustaining a high quality of life for all citizens by protecting and restoring the environment and public health in New Hampshire. It is anticipated that the Partners Program will help to raise environmental awareness through a strengthening of the Department’s current relationships with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), trade associations, industry, business and other organizations in New Hampshire, as well as the development of new collaborative relationships.A copy of the agreement will be posted with this press release at www.des.nh.gov/partnersprogram/index.html or is available upon request.
