AIR POLLUTION CONTROL ENGINEER IV
(SENIOR ENFORCEMENT ENGINEER)

The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, Air Resources Division has an immediate opening for a full-time Air Pollution Control Engineer (Senior Enforcement Engineer). The Senior Enforcement Engineer will be responsible for assessing, evaluating and recommending enforcement responses for violations of the State’s air pollution control statutes and rules based on the facts of each case and applicable state and federal policies. This position will also supervise enforcement case development, manage enforcement-related projects, assist in developing and updating policies and procedures, and train other staff.


This position requires someone who is task-oriented, has the ability to handle multiple time-sensitive projects, possesses excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills, and is comfortable dealing with the regulated community in sometimes stressful situations. Proficiency with word processing software and the application of computer skills to analyze technical data is required. A working knowledge of NH Rules Governing the Control of Air Pollution is strongly preferred.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental preferred; other engineering degrees considered with appropriate environmental background) and four years' technical or professional engineering experience with at least one year of experience in air pollution control engineering. License/Certification: Possession of a valid driver’s license to complete required field work. Special Qualifications: Position requires ability to pass a medical examination consistent with National Institute of Safety & Health recommendations. No phobia of climbing high structures or working in an adverse environment.

The salary range for this position is $46,722.00 - $55,497.00. Three additional steps may be awarded based on successful performance evaluations. The successful candidate must satisfactorily pass criminal background and motor vehicle checks. The successful candidate will have to pay a union/agency fee in the future.
