Lead Waste in Dental Offices

Dental offices generate lead wastes form the use of lead products. The DES informational sheet Management of Lead Waste From Dental Offices: Proper Storage & Disposal of Lead Aprons, Shields, Foils, Lead-Acid Batteries and Computers provides details on the proper management of these wastes. Lead aprons, shields, foils are considered hazardous wastes unless they are recycled for their scrap metal content. Batteries and computer cathode ray tubes should both be managed as universal wastes, with recycling the preferred option.
