The New Hampshire Pollution Prevention Program (NHPPP) and the NH Lodging and Restaurant Association (NHLRA) have formed a partnership agreement to encourage hospitality facilities to adopt green, sustainable business practices. Many lodging and restaurant facilities throughout the state have seen the economic cost savings benefits due to reductions in energy use, water conservation and solid waste reductions. These facilities have also experienced the added benefit of promoting themselves as “green or sustainable facilities” to environmentally-conscious consumers. NHPPP & NHLRA have developed a “Sustainable Lodging and Restaurant Certification Program” to recognize those facilities that are implementing initiatives to lessen their impact on the environment.
This program, administered by the NHLRA, requires completion of an application. Once the application is submitted and reviewed, NHPPP accompanies NHLRA staff on a visit to the facility for verification and to offer suggestions for further reductions.
