Pollution Prevention Internship Program

The NH Pollution Prevention Program has set up an internship program with the University of New Hampshire, which will allow companies and organizations to become compliant with the P2 suggestions/regulations for their state. Since 1993, over 120 UNH students have worked with 70 New Hampshire companies on pollution prevention projects with one common goal: TO REDUCE OR ELIMINATE WASTE AND SAVE MONEY! Most companies have realized significant savings as a result of utilizing the internship program. To date, companies have reported combined cost savings of over $5 million! The benefits for both parties are great: the student acquires real world experience to promote pollution prevention, and the company has the opportunity to save money while promoting a safe and environmentally sustainable work space.

P2 Internship Costs

The cost of sponsoring a trained, engineering intern for a ten-week period beginning in late May is $7,500, and intern sharing is also available. The cost covers an intern-training program at UNH, a stipend for the ten-week placement, intern support activities, and UNH/DES support during the project period. “The fresh technical capabilities in a flexible individual allow for almost immediate involvement in a project that benefits both parties. The intern gets to employ skills and develop a comfort level while applying them as the facility gets a fresh perspective.” Joseph M. Webb, Teledyne HALCO.
