Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs), located within a television or computer monitor, are considered universal wastes due to their lead content, and must be managed accordingly. The DES fact sheet Proper Management of Cathode Ray Tubes from Computer Monitors and Televisions
provides guidance on managing this universal waste. Contact the DES Solid Waste Compliance Assurance Section for guidance on managing waste electronics. DES maintains a list of vendors for computer recycling, particularly for cathode ray tubes.
