Purpose
To minimize land and water contamination by ensuring tank system installations meet minimum standards.
Applicability
Required for a new or replacement underground storage tank (UST) system, or a substantial modification of a UST system.

Application
Application for the Construction of New or Substantially Modified Underground Storage Systems ![]()
Fee
Application fee is $100. State and local governments are exempt.
Processing Time
A complete application package including plans and specifications prepared and certified by a New Hampshire licensed professional engineer, must be submitted by the owner at least 90 days prior to commencing construction or installation of a new, replacement, or substantially modified UST system.
Term/Renewal
One year from the date of issuance. An owner may request a waiver from the one year expiration period according to Env-Wm 1401.40.
Modification/Amendments
Modifications must be included in a new, complete application package.
Transferability
Not transferable.
Appeals
Any person aggrieved by a final decision can appeal to the Waste Management Council in accordance with RSA 21-0:9.
