Why it is important to reduce waste, water and energy consumption
Waste Reduction
On average, a very high percentage of lodging waste can be prevented, recycled or composted, with estimates reaching as high as 70%. In light of rising disposal costs, this may be a significant savings at your business.
Water Reduction
When guests re-use their sheets and towels, lodging facilities save money in reduced water, energy, labor, detergent; and sheet/towel replacement costs. A 150 room hotel can expect to save 6,000 gallons of water and 40 gallons of detergent monthly by having guests request linen service.

Energy Reduction
New Hampshire businesses face some of the highest electric rates in the country. From a financial standpoint, using as little energy as possible to accomplish necessary tasks is extremely important. For instance, a small business can spend up to half of its energy bill on lighting. A company using inefficient lighting sources may be spending 30% to 60% more than a competitor achieving a similar light level using energy efficient lights.
