Solid Waste Operator Certification
Solid Waste Facility Operator Certification

Purpose
Provide solid waste facility operator training and certification to promote environmental protection and public health and safety.

Applicability
All persons that work at a solid waste facility are required by state law to be certified. Only persons not directly handling solid waste are exempt. Examples of exempt personnel would be office workers and scale house operators, as long as they do not make decisions on handling of the waste.

Fee
A fee of $50 must accompany the application. The renewal fee is also $50 and must accompany the renewal form. Renewals received more than 30 days after the certification date will be charged an additional fee of $25 as a late charge. Renewal reminders will no longer be mailed to operators or facilities.

Processing Time
Typically one week, once the application is determined to be complete.

Term/Renewal
Must be renewed annually.

Modification/Amendments
Non-applicable.

Transferability
Certifications are person-specific and non-transferable.

Appeals
Any person aggrieved by a final decision can appeal to the Waste Management Council in accordance with RSA 21-O:9.
