The majority of the funding will be used for on-farm projects that assist livestock and agricultural land operations and related organizations with implementing Best Management Practices and other such measures, which help to prevent or mitigate water pollution. Funding may also be utilized by organizations for educational projects. Examples of projects include:
- Barn gutter/downspouts
- Concrete pads for manure/compost storage
- Controlled wetland crossings
- Diversion berms
- Fencing livestock out of surface water
- Pasture pumps or other livestock watering systems as alternatives to surface water
- Roofs for manure/compost storage
- Vegetated buffers
Up to $2,500 per project per year is available from funding provided by DAMF and DES's Drinking Water Protection Program and Nonpoint Source Program. Grants will be awarded in two rounds, December and June, for which applications must be received by DAMF by December 1st and by June 1st, respectively.
