The following steps outline the procedure to obtain a grant:
- Applicant submits a complete project eligibility application to New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES). NHDES determines which projects are eligible to submit an application for funding using the eligibility criteria in Env-Ws 394.05.
- NHDES notifies applicants with eligible projects within 30 days in accordance with Env-Ws 394.08.
- Applicants submit completed grant application package to NHDES.
- NHDES ranks and selects projects using the priority ranking system in Env-Ws 394.11.
- NHDES notifies applicants if they have been conditionally selected to receive a grant.
- If the project is selected, the following must be submitted to DES for all properties to be protected under the application, including match properties:
- A property survey, prepared in accordance with Env-Ws 394.13.
- An appraisal, prepared in accordance with Env-Ws 394.14 and Env-Ws 394.15.
- A title examination, and if necessary, an opinion of title, prepared in accordance with Env-Ws 394.16.
- An environmental site assessment, prepared in accordance with Env-Ws 394.12 (if necessary).
- Payment shall not be made until:
- Approval of the aforementioned items by NHDES.
- Approval of all transfer instruments by the Attorney General's Office.
- Approval of Governor & Council.
- If the project is selected and funded, the applicant shall:
- Execute the land transaction in accordance with Env-Ws 394.19.
- Record the deed in accordance with Env-Ws 394.19.
- Adhere to the terms of the conservation easement in accordance with Env-Ws 394.17.
- Provide ongoing stewardship of the property in accordance with Env-Ws 394.18.
