Description
This year’s workshop promises to be another outstanding event including session topics that cover recent studies concerning the potential issues for expanding the use of the Merrimack River as a water source, harmful effects of algae (cyanobacteria) in New Hampshire and Vermont lakes and milestones passed on the way to a comprehensive state water plan.

Sessions at this event will provide research and guidance concerning the most effective approaches, practices and techniques for use in local drinking water protection efforts. Members of community boards (planning, etc.), conservation commissions, regional agencies, non-profit organizations and consultants should attend. Topics will include:

  • Increasing use and climate change impacts upon groundwater availability in the seacoast area.
  • Available land conservation financing options.
  • Results of watershed planning in the Exeter and Nashua River watersheds.
  • Review of porous pavement installation, performance and maintenance.
  • Mitigating negative effects of blasting and commercial wastewater on groundwater.
  • Developing web-based mapping tools using remotely sensed data.
