The 16 policies that form the basis of the NHCP, the NHCP’s recent Coastal Zone Management Act Section 309 assessment and strategies, the NHCP strategic plan, and the NHDES mission and strategic plan all cite ocean and estuarine resources as pivotal in the future health of our oceans and coast. Examples of work in coastal and ocean policy include renewable energy siting research; dredged material management; development of offshore data sources, especially bathymetry, benthic habitat and human uses; and innovative and regional approaches to offshore issues.
