Salt Marsh Restoration Monitoring Protocols
Fairhill net lifting

In 2003, the Coastal Program developed a citizen-science based monitoring guide to be used to evaluate the effectiveness of wetland restoration practices and techniques. Between 2003-2007, the Coastal Program implemented the N.H. Marsh Monitors, a program where trained volunteers worked side by side with scientists and natural resource managers to collect information on fish, vegetation, salinity, and water quality at salt marsh restoration sites. Although the Marsh Monitors program is no longer active, salt marsh restoration monitoring is ongoing by the Coastal Program and the other project partners as needed. The following publication and resource provide more information on salt marsh monitoring parameters and design.
