Oyster River - Mill Pond Dam
Overview
The Mill Pond is an impoundment within the Oyster River that is created by the existence of the Mill Pond Dam, which is sometimes referred to as the Oyster River Dam. The pond itself is approximately 9.5 acres in size and is relatively shallow, with nearly half of the pond having less than three feet of water. The Mill Pond Dam is currently owned and operated by the town of Durham. The town is currently evaluating its options of whether to repair or remove the dam to address the structural deficiencies identified during recent inspections.
