The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) is excited to launch the New Hampshire Coastal Atlas. This internet based product gives people quick access to information on shellfish harvest opportunities and closures, beach swimming advisories and coastal public access sites. For more info and to visit the Atlas, go to: http://xml2.des.state.nh.us/CoastalAtlas/
The Atlas is designed for use on desktop PCs as well as on mobile devices such as smartphones. The mobile version includes a geo-location feature to help users get directions to where they want to go.
Users can not only use the site to see what shellfish harvest areas are open for harvest, but they can also opt to sign up to receive text message and/or email notifications when new shellfish harvest information is posted.
The Coastal Atlas will not replace the “1-800-43-CLAMS” hotline. That hotline will remain operational; however, users should note that updates to the Coastal Atlas will not always be made simultaneously with updates to the hotline. Typically, the Atlas will contain the most up-to-date information.
