Technical Assistance

VLAP provides volunteer monitoring groups throughout the state with the necessary equipment and supplies needed to collect lake and tributary water quality samples. Volunteers typically collect samples once per month in the summer (June, July and August) and return the samples to the Limnology Center at DES in Concord, or one of the two VLAP satellite laboratories located at Colby Sawyer College in New London and Plymouth State University in Plymouth. The samples are then analyzed by the laboratories and data is reported back to the volunteers monthly and in a comprehensive annual report.
