Training

Contoocook Lake volunteer Ted Covert receives the coveted Secchi Disk Award during the 2007 Annual VLAP Training WorkshopEach year, biologists conduct an annual visit to each lake/pond participating in VLAP. During that visit, volunteers are trained on the proper monitoring protocols and sampling techniques to collect quality data. A sampling procedures assessment is performed and volunteers are notified of areas needing improvement and re-trained in those areas if necessary. VLAP also offers an annual workshop to volunteers. Volunteers are able to attend a sampling refresher session at the workshop to refresh sampling skills and ask pertinent questions.
