New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services 29 Hazen Drive Concord NH 03301
Vendor Selected for New Hampshire Clean School Bus Retrofit Project
Kick-Off Meeting Scheduled for April 12

Concord, NH --The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services is announcing that Engine Control Systems Limited (ECS) was recently selected to provide diesel oxidation catalysts (DOCs) for 80 school buses in the Manchester and Nashua School Districts. The Manchester Transit Authority and First Student of Nashua provide school bus service for these districts, respectively.

ECS designs and manufactures the DOC as an "AZ Purimuffler." Once installed, this equipment will reduce particulate emissions by about 40 percent, carbon monoxide emissions by 40 percent and hydrocarbon emissions by up to 70 percent. The equipment is being provided through a grant with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

A project kick-off meeting will be held on April 12, 2006 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Manchester Transit Authority. The public and media are invited to attend this meeting to learn about this equipment and its many benefits to school children in the Manchester and Nashua school communities.

What:
Kick-Off Meeting for New Hampshire Clean School Bus Retrofit Technology Project

Where:
Manchester Transit Authority
110 Elm Streeet
Manchester, NH

When:
April 12, 2006
10:00 a.m.

The overall purpose of the meeting is to bring ECS together with the school bus partners to look at the equipment, determine which buses will be selected for installation, and schedule training and installation. ECS will demonstrate, using a cut away of an actual AZ Purimuffler, how the equipment works to reduce school bus emissions. School buses will also be on hand to show where and how the equipment is installed.

Extra: ECS is a worldwide company that designs and manufactures a full range of original equipment and aftermarket products for treating harmful exhaust emission from diesel, propane, gasoline and natural gas engines. ECS has been involved in a variety of school bus retrofit projects throughout the U.S. over the past three years, ranging from a few buses to well over 1000.
