DES Brownfields Program Awards Brownfields Cleanup Grant of $200,000 to Tri-County Community Action Program, Inc.
Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Brownfields Program at the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services today presented Tri-County Community Action Program, Inc in association with the Northern Forest Heritage Park with a $200,000 Brownfields Cleanup Grant to address PCB, lead, and mercury contamination at the former Brown Company Research and Development Building located at 912 Main Street in Berlin. This grant was awarded using a portion of DES’s Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund (BCRLF) grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Authorization to incur costs in connection with this grant award will be given once DES executes a cooperative agreement with Tri-County CAP. Additional assessment work is required at the site prior to execution of cooperative agreements. DES will provide the required additional assessment services and cleanup planning services to Tri-County CAP and the Northern Forest Heritage Park in the form of grants of technical assistance under DES’s Brownfields Program.
