Annual Environmental Events, Tours & Celebrations - Get
the Class Involved!
MAY
NH Drinking Water Week Festival is held during
the first week in May at a different NH location each year to celebrate
National Drinking Water Week. It is sponsored by a coalition comprised
of state and federal agencies, water suppliers, water consultants, and
others interested in water issues. Activities at the festival include hands-on
exhibits, water-themed plays, educational water activities, pipe tapping
demonstrations, a municipal water tasting contest, and the finals of the
State Fourth Grade Water Science Fair. Call 271-4071 for information about
the next upcoming festival or to get a copy of the Fourth Grade Water Science
Fair Manual.
AUGUST
Celebrate Your Lakes Day is an annual event celebrating
the more than 800 lakes and ponds in New Hampshire. Festivities have traditionally
been held at Hesky Park in Meredith on the second Saturday of the month.

SEPTEMBER
Pollution Prevention Week (P2 Week) was created to highlight and promote
the many benefits of pollution prevention. P2 Week always falls during the third
week in September. Posters, outreach material, and information are available to
teachers, students, administrators, and parents at no cost. Contact the DES Pollution

NOVEMBER
America Recycles Day in New Hampshire (ARD-NH)
is an annual event, held in November, that highlights New Hampshire’s participation
in the National America Recycles Day. Through this event, DES in partnership
with other recycling related organizations is helping to raise consumers’
awareness of all aspects of recycling. For more information about how your
