New England Water Environment Association Recognizes Three NHDES Employees
Three NHDES employees were recognized at the New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA) Annual Conference in January.
Sharon Nall
Sharon Nall, Sustainability Section Supervisor in the NHDES Wastewater Engineering Bureau, received NEWEA’s Energy Management Achievement Award for her achievements in advancing energy awareness and reductions at New Hampshire’s wastewater treatment facilities (WWTFs), which are among the highest energy-consuming facilities in New Hampshire. Sharon is a true energy champion, incorporating energy management into all aspects of her work and engaging with local, state and federal partners to help maximize funding for energy efficiency projects.
Anthony Drouin
Anthony Drouin, Residuals Management Section Supervisor in the Wastewater Engineering Bureau, received a US EPA – Region 1 New England Wastewater Trainer of the Year Award for his dedication and commitment to providing outstanding training opportunities for New Hampshire’s wastewater community.
Mark Corliss
Mark Corliss, Chief Operator of the Winnipesaukee River Basin Program (WRBP), was honored with the New Hampshire Operator of the Year Award, which is given annually to an individual who has shown a high interest and performance in wastewater operations and has made a significant contribution to the wastewater field. Over his 32-year career and most recently as the chief operator of the Franklin WWTF, Mark has gone above and beyond in his service to the citizens of the Lakes Region. Mark has been involved in many projects to improve the operations and energy efficiency of the WWTF, train his staff members, coordinate with the Upper Merrimack Monitoring Program’s (UMMP) Adopt-a-River Site, and serve as a role model to inspire other operators. Mark continues to lead by example - taking on extra projects at work and successfully completing advanced training sessions.
