NHDES Gets the Lead Out

June 14, 2024

NHDES Get the Lead Out of Drinking Water (GTLO) is pleased to announce the launch of a grant program for remediation funding for lead in drinking water in schools. This round of funding provides up to 100% reimbursement for eligible school facilities with fixtures testing at or above the 5 parts per billion (ppb) limit for lead established by RSA 485:17-a. Eligible facilities received an email with details and a link to the online application form. The link is also available on the www.gettheleadoutnh.org website. Applications will be accepted first come and first served on an ongoing basis until the $1 million in funding from the Drinking Water and Groundwater Trust Fund (DWGTF) has been expended.

NHDES GTLO is also pleased to announce a partnership with New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (NHDHHS) to assist licensed child care facilities. NHDES recently transferred funding to support a position focused on supporting licensed child care facilities completing their required three rounds of GTLO testing for lead in drinking water. NHDHHS is developing a 100% reimbursement grant for licensed child care facilities to remediate elevated levels of lead in drinking water. The total amount of remediation grant funding available for child care facilities is $400,000. NHDHHS anticipates that the grant application process will be available later this spring and the most current information will be available on the www.gettheleadoutnh.org website.
